About the Artist – Ken Ledbetter
I have been a woodworker for many years, in various capacities, starting as a hobby.
In 1986, Carol and I opened our first frame shop and art gallery – Wood’N You – in Kirkland, Washington, where I hand-made many of the gallery’s frames. The second gallery was opened in Moses Lake, Washington in 1994.
By the early ’90’s, I was also offering my frames wholesale to other galleries in the states of Washington, Idaho and Montana. I started woodturning in the late ’90’s, as a hobby.
After selling both galleries by 1999 and moving to Arizona, I began to get more serious about turning, and in 2003 started doing juried art fairs locally.
I have also been a rockhound for most of my life and have a complete lapidary shop. Many of my pieces, including all wine bottle stoppers, have a stone incorporated in them.
I work with highly distressed, spalted wood, and, literally, most of my wood comes from firewood piles.
I am a member of the following:
-
American Association of Woodworkers
-
Tucson Handweavers & Spinners Guild
